Looks like they're having fun. Perhaps a wedding party of some sort?

    The second, REALLY nice, yummy.

The third, always wanted to try that but never had the guts.

Seriously! Where are these people from?! I have to know!!!

This dance is used as entertainment in some weddings in some Gulf countries (done mainly by special performers). I know they do it in the UAE and some clerics have attacked this practice but many people still arrange for it in their celebrations.

When I first saw the ladies dancing this way on you tube, I thought this must be a joke. I e-mailed my progressive Saudi friend and asked what is this? you know how it is all the pervert wierd stuff you think it is Saudi :) yes I'm terrible and I do stereotype sometimes (I guess I want to get them busted somehow).

She replied that Saudi's are innocent this is not our traditional dance :) I mean seriously it is shocking especially how they get on top of each other. Lesbian moves big time!

As for the two idiots and the fans, I think this is the helicopter dance.

twosret, "...the two idiots and the fans"

Shame! Shame! How dare you criticize someone's traditional dance like that!
Admit it, you would really like to try it!

First time I see such a dance.
The word "m`allaayyeh" means something put up (fem.).

Have you noticed the two women in black (in case they're both women)?

All in all: worse than porn.

ok.... someone mentioned lesbians and such... whereas i think that this is done for the MEN - not for ladies' enjoyment! the men want to see it, they want to see the asses of these chicks and obviously girl on girl action... so their wishes are fulfilled. my question though.. is this done by ladies of the tribe/village or are hookers basically hired or what?! are these at the men only parts of the weddings or combined weddings?

if this is a traditional dance done in the UAE and such... really makes me wonder cuz it doesn't look very islamic at all!!! but you know... i have to say, once again, that i'm not surprised cuz arabs are really consumed w/ this sexual stuff.... i've always thought that belly dancing was a purely sexual thing here and now i see this. ha!!

this is great stuff. i'm totally floored! i would like to know more about this though. why is this dance done??

    Chris,

I have done many stupid things in my life but they were not that stupid :) I have never heard of a tradional dance that includes ceiling fans before.

I will pass the offer thank you LOL

As I watched them I thought, "Are they going to be killed by their brothers and fathers next?"

Then I thought, "Good exercise, actually."

After reading the comments, I thought, "The Victorians were a very sexually repressed culture too, and BOY were they ever erotic."

I was surprised to see it, if not to say shocked.

    their butts move independently :))))

I guess i agree that this is for men, they are aiming their weapons to men. Their cannon/fieldguns :)))))

Other than that i am speachless

Those women can move their asses like that, and men want to cover them up? how retarded. They all had a Badunka-Dunk. :D LOVED it. *thumbs up*

Wow! Hey, Abu Sinan, see... that's the way to convert the world to Islam! If those girls could find a way to combine those moves with the belly dancing moves, we'd have no chance. No chance at all. Booty, not bombs!

Actually those are performers hired for the occasion. These are tribal dancers from sub-saharan africa and I've personally seen similar action in African countries live sans the clothes by the way. ( yes I have been to a lot of places )
The clothing style suggests Somalia, Ethiopia and some parts of Sudan- No offense meant to anyone. However, it is some perverts from the Gulf countries who bring/brought in these women for their own pleasure ( even in earlier times since this dance seems to have a name ). We Arabs enjoy all sorts of hot stuff.

AS for the fan dancers this is no traditional dance , fans did not exists when we lived in tents ;) - but hmm it does look like fun.And if you look closely you will notice it is some kind of classroom where teenage boys must be having fun :P

Of course if anyone knows better and would like to correct me I don't mind at all :)

  • At 5:01 PM, Blogger programmer craig said…

So, Arab girls can't do that!? Ah.... I'm all disappointed now :(

Do Somali and Ethiopian girls belly dance?

I've seen those before, I don't get the impression that the girls are Arab. There is a whole series on YouTube of "Arab booty dance" videos, mostly with Pakistani/Indian looking women doing this. I've never seen/heard of it elsewhere. lol.

"There is a whole series on YouTube of "Arab booty dance" videos, mostly with Pakistani/Indian looking women doing this"

I looked up the youtube videos and did not see anyone who appears to be indian or pakistani. LOL first of all, you cannot see their faces, so you cannot tell what their ethinic background is. also, women in south asia where salwars, or long tunics. their type of dress makes me believe these women are arab.

I don't care who they were or why they were doing it... but I think I just found a new dance routine for the ladies that wanna spice things up for me ;)
