Lunch Break
I called my aunt last Monday.
Aunt,"Anything new?"
Moi,"No, everything’s the same."
Aunt,"Yea right, come on.. nothing? Nothing at all?"
Moi,"No, nothing really."
Aunt,"Are you pregnant yet?"
Moi,"No"
Aunt,"What are you waiting for?"
Moi,"huh...I am not pregnant "
Aunt,"Why don't you get pregnant?"
Moi,"Stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Aunt,"Your using contraception then?"
Moi,"This is too weird. I am uncomfortable talking to you about my sex life aaaaah ...."
Aunt,"Where are you? At home or at work?"
Moi,"I am working from home today."
Aunt,"What?!! Working from home??!! You must be pregnant then."
Moi,"Ok I am pregant."
Aunt,"Really?"
Moi,"Yes."
Aunt,"No, you're not"
Moi," Ok, I am not."
Aunt,"No, really...are you pregnant?"
Moi,"NO I AM NOT."
Aunt,"Yes you are."
Moi," Ok I am then."
Aunt," You are really?"
Moi,"NOOO."
Aunt," Why not, what are you waiting for. They'll take care of you when you get older."
Moi," Ok I will work on it just for you."
Aunt,"Where is your husband? Is he sleeping?”
Moi,"No, he is at work."
Aunt,"How is he treating you? Is he making you miserable?"
Moi," No, not at all. We get along very well."
Aunt,"What time is it there?”
Moi,"10a.m"
Aunt,"10a.m?Really? It’s 4p.m. here. What are you having for lunch?”
Moi,"I don't know yet."
Aunt," Aren't you going to cook?"
Moi," I don't know yet."
Aunt,"Ok, so you're working from home and it is 10a.m and you're too lazy to make lunch. You must be pregnant."
Moi,"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah I am not pregnant!”
Aunt, “ You better get started. If you get too old you might not be able to.”
Moi,”Then I could adopt.”
Aunt,"OH NO adoption is Haram."
Moi,"Why?"
Aunt,"Because an adopted child could marry a sibling."
Moi, “I have to go make lunch now.”

Is adoption really Haram? I've heard before one of the reasons Muslim men can have more than one wife is to care for children who have no father, but I would have thought adoption would be in the same spirit?

hi leilouta,
everybody look for your happiness!! you are so lucky :p
such discussion is typically tunisian.
@mark it is haram to take the kid your name you can take care of his but not getting your family name. for example he cannot benefit inf inheritance etc. but taking care of orphans is higly appreciated in islam.
@Momo Ganbatte :) tunisian mthers in law are always like that :)

funny enough, in algeria, adopted children keep their biological parents' name so it prevents them from marrying a sibling.
what are the odds for you to marry a sibling you don't know anyway? if you adopt a child from a totally different country or who was born in a state far from yours, i'd say the odds are very small. maybe it was relevant centuries ago when people didn't migrate a lot but now...can't be haram i guess. i never heard it was besides.

Oh I hate it when people interfere in such a personal matter..... if someone doesn't want children, nagging them isn't going to change their mind, if someone is trying to have a child but can't, nagging will only make them miserable and hurt their feelings. look at it this way, if you will not raise the child, it isn't your business when the child is born. but to push for something that doesnt concern you is just plain rude!! I realy wish people would mind their own business!!
I am done now, thanks for listening to my rant!

I can never imagine having a conversation like this with any of my aunts, it would drive me up the wall, thankfuly i never experienced it, lucky me!
It's really funny how people know that something is Haram, but totaly don't know why, they just repeat it without understanding, or give you a totaly wrong answer!

Leilouta, I have a feeling that most people with children didn't really try to have them. They just kind of happened...

This reminds me a lot of Sandmonkey, when his mom was bothering him to marry!
