That's Hot




Today I wore this T-Shirt as a show of solidarity. If she has to go back to jail I will go on a hunger strike. Hmmm, that could be a new diet to get the Hollywood look!

    It must be so terrible to famous for nothing. I am so tired of seeing this brat on the news and tv as if she is important. Money doesn't buy integrity or class, obviously.

    Really why she can't be in jail but other people can.... If anybody of us do the same thing she did we will b sitting in jail and not for 23 days but for whole 43. And nobody will say it is not fair.

    Hi Leilouta:

    I really enjoy your blog. I have to comment on this. (Note that I'm responding more to others' comments rather than to your post.)

    It seems to me that people in this country don't want Paris Hilton to go to jail because of drunk driving. They want her to go to jail because she is Paris Hilton.

    People in this country are consumed with envy of those who are rich, successful, educated, attractive, etc. Paris falls into at least two of those categories, and so it's fashionable not only to hate her, but actually to rejoice in her pain.

    It's one thing to want to see a drunk driver corrected for her bad behavior; that's understandable.

    But it's another thing to laugh at or take pleasure in someone's suffering.

    The behavior reminds me of the French Revolution mob laughing and cheering and celebrating as the aristocracy was executed. This kind of behavior is not just unbecoming, it's (IMHO) evil to find humor or amusement or entertainment in someone's suffering--even if that suffering is deserved.

    I'm Buddhist, not Muslim, but I cannot believe that being happy about someone else's pain is not condemned in Islam. My understanding of Islam is that it emphasizes compassion.

    I want to emphasize that I am not a fan of Paris Hilton--actually I feel indifferent toward her--but it really does pain me that people would take such delight and find such joy in another's pain. It's really too bad, and I hope that perhaps someone will read this and gain a new perspective on the situation.

    Hatred--whether it's directed against someone from another country, someone of another religion, or Paris Hilton--is never a good thing.
